The savior of every NaBlo: The meme

November 4, 2010

This is supposed to be a “thirty prompts for 30 days”-type meme.  I figured, with the other topics I’d cover, I’d use it when I was low on time or feeling uninspired.  I’m actually really feeling neither tonight, since I slept 11 (interrupted, but still) hours last night and am nowhere near tired.  But it’s nice to have around, and it more than covers November.

First up: A book series you wish had gone on longer OR a book series you wish would just freaking end already (or both!)

I really think The Hunger Games could’ve pulled off another book, or at least could’ve gone on for at least another 50 or 100 pages.  There were cries from my book club about deadlines and word counts, and I have to agree: the end is rushed.  It does everything it needs to, but it’s rushed.  Or clipped.

There’s nothing ongoing that I can think of off the top of my head that I want gone.  Oh, there’s probably something eluding me, but it seems like I ride everything out till the end and then say that with some editing, it would’ve been much better.  Including the Marvel and DC universes.

Since we’re on the topic: Roswell High.  It started out strong, but by the 10th book, I just wanted it over.  I don’t even remember all of it, but I do know that it freakin’ wrapped up so ridiculously, with everyone so very happy with their partners that it was TOO tidy.  According to Wikipedia, all ten books were published within a two year period.  That’s nuts.

Also, a hearty “screw you” to the TV execs who changed Liz’s last name.

Kare Kano was another one.  The Jessica Darling books.  If she announced a sixth, I’d redo this post.  And if you want to talk authors, Sarah and I were just saying: ANDREW “I’M V.C. ANDREWS, BITCH” NEIDERMAN.  Really, Andrew?  Vampires?  Just use your own damn name and stop piggybacking of the fame of a dead woman.  A dead woman who had actual talent, not a cushy job.

Here’s the meme, for those who want to play along at home (or on their blogs–drop me a line if you’re doing it too):
